This year’s Ukrainian Plast camp in Italy became an inspiring journey where children discovered nature, built friendships, and shared Ukrainian traditions with Italian scouts.
From the very first evening, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A shared pizza dinner helped Ukrainian Plast members quickly connect with Italian scouts, and soon the children were playing and laughing together. Even the rainy arrival couldn’t stop the excitement of beginning a new adventure.
🌿 Camp Life & Activities
Throughout the week, the program was designed to strengthen teamwork, leadership, and friendship:
- Olympic Games that brought everyone together
- A Ukrainian cooking contest featuring varenyky, holubtsi, halushky, and syrnyky — with our team proudly taking the top three places
- A challenging but unforgettable 20 km hike to a beautiful mountain lake
- Evening campfires, songs, and shared traditions
- A special Ukrainian Day with workshops, crafts, and cultural activities
By the end of the camp, many Italian scouts were happily singing Ukrainian songs — a beautiful symbol of unity.
⛰️ Meaningful Encounters & Support
We were honored by the visit of a Ukrainian priest and the Chief Scout of Italy — a moment that highlighted the shared values of both scout movements.
Returning to Cornuda, participants were greeted by Italian families with music, treats, and heartfelt hospitality. A special thank-you goes to Angela, whose care and kindness made our stay truly special.
✨ Beyond the Camp
The adventure continued with inspiring trips to Padua and Venice, giving our scouts a chance to explore the beauty and history of Italy together.
This Plast camp in Italy will stay in our hearts — as a time of new friendships, cultural exchange, shared songs, and the deep bond between Ukrainian Plast and Italian scouts.
💚 Thank you, Italy, for your friendship and generosity.
🤗 We are grateful to Plast Ukrainian Scouting Organization – USA for financial support.
