Plast Summer Camp in Italy: A Week of Adventure

From July 19–26, members of Plast – Ukrainian Scouting gathered in the picturesque Franscia Valley for a week-long summer camp filled with adventure, creativity, and meaningful connections. This year’s theme, inspired by The Sword in the Stone, came to life thanks to the incredible work of camp leaders Annalisa and Luca.

A Creative and Adventurous Week in the Mountains

Throughout the camp, participants enjoyed a vibrant mix of outdoor and creative activities designed to build skills, confidence, and teamwork.

Italian Cooking Workshop

🍝 Campers learned how to roll and shape fresh pasta, discovering the joy of traditional Italian cuisine.

Arts & Crafts Sessions

🎨 From clay sculpting to colorful paper creations, the workshops allowed scouts to explore their artistic side.

The “Hug Challenge”

🤝 One of the most memorable moments of the camp was the “Hug Challenge,” where each camper embraced the person they had spoken with the least. The unexpected smiles and heartfelt hugs became a favorite highlight.

The Meaning Behind “The Sword in the Stone”

The legendary camp theme encouraged every participant to look beyond the stories and discover a deeper message.
Friendship is the true magic.
Small gestures, acts of kindness, and shared experiences are what forge lasting bonds.

Strengthening the Plast Community Abroad

For Ukrainian scouts living in or visiting Italy, the camp was more than just a week outdoors. It was a place to:

• reconnect with Plast traditions,
• develop leadership and teamwork skills,
• strengthen cultural identity,
• and build friendships across borders.

A Week to Remember

The Franscia Valley camp once again proved that scouting is not just about activities — it’s about community.
