Pirate-Themed Scout Camp 2025: an unforgettable adventure in the Italian Alps - Plast
UKR

📅 July 29 – August 9, 2025
📍 Pierremenaud – Oulx, Susa Valley, Piedmont, Italy

This summer, the Italian Alps came alive with songs, laughter, and the fearless energy of 35 young scouts27 from Italy and 8 from Ukraine — who gathered for Campo Estivo 2025: Pirates – The Adventure!
The camp was organized by Rivoli 2 and Andromeda, bringing together two scouting communities for an enriching, international experience.

Life at Camp: Living Like True Pirates

From the very first day, the schedule was full of activity and adventure.
Camp mornings began with raising the flag, assemblies, and prayers — and then the real pirate life started:
cooking meals outdoors, working in patrols, and embracing the spirit of teamwork.

A Ukrainian Evening in the Alps

🍲 One of the most memorable nights was when Ukrainian Plast members prepared authentic borsch over the fire.
It wasn’t just a meal — it was a cultural exchange.
Under the glow of the campfire, Italian and Ukrainian scouts sang together, creating the kind of memories that last a lifetime.

Mountain Adventures and Patrol Challenges

Independent Hikes

🏔 Each patrol ventured into the mountains without adults, armed only with a map, a compass, and their skills.
It was a powerful exercise in trust, responsibility, and real scouting spirit.

Games and Competitions

🎯 The days were filled with friendly competitions:

  • frisbee
  • rugby
  • capture the flag
  • knot-tying contests
  • fire-starting challenges after the campfire

One of the highlights was the MasterChef Challenge, where patrols competed to create the best dish.
A “scout jury” of senior leaders judged taste, presentation, and creativity, and every patrol delivered something delicious.

Friendship Without Borders

This was a mixed camp, where boys and girls worked, learned, and played side by side.
Beyond the pirate theme, the games, and the challenges, the camp embodied something deeper:
friendship that crosses languages and borders.
Italian and Ukrainian scouts discovered how easily they understood each other through teamwork, respect, and shared adventure.
