And this little flame is making its way back to Ukraine, carrying with it a message of light, hope, and resilience.
This year, Plast members once again travelled to Austria to receive the Peace light of Bethlehem — the very flame that originates in the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem and crosses thousands of kilometres as it is passed from scout to scout around the world.
⚜️As 30 years ago, because exactly Plast members were the first scouts who brought Peace light of Bethlehem in Ukraine!
🥹 Every moment on this road feels special:the trembling flame inside the lantern in Vienna, the warm smiles of Scouts sharing the Light hand to hand, our backpacks filled with responsibility, excitement, and pride — knowing that we will be the ones to bring the Light home.
Ahead of us lie long distances, transfers, borders, and many hours on the road.
We carry the lantern as if it were the most precious part of our journey — because it truly is.
This small light gives hope to so many.
⚜️From this very moment, its new chapter in our shared scout tradition begins — a tradition that reminds us to Give Thoughts of Peace and spread them wherever the Light travels.
❤️Very soon, the Flame will head to Kyiv and then on to dozens of cities and communities where people are waiting for it.
We believe that as long as the Peace light of Bethlehem continues its journey, it brings warmth, faith, and a reminder that light will always overcome darkness.
